Chinese Traditional Wedding - Betrothal Gifts & Ceremony

Chinese Traditional Wedding - Betrothal Gifts & Ceremony is a custom that has been surviving the years until now from the ancient China. Especially in Malaysia, this is the part of the Chinese Traditional Wedding that cannot be missed out.

Betrothal Ceremony has to be done before the actual wedding day of the couples. The parents or elderly from the Groom's side will have to pay a visit together with the groom himself to the Bride's house to settle the couples marriage in verbally and exchanged gifts. Usually the date has to be an auspicious date also. The Groom will have to bring the below items together as a gifts.

1. The Grand Money - The name that what we use to call it is a sum of money for the bride's parents and elderly as a token for them letting their daughter marring him. Amount can be any amount depends on the groom's ability.

2. The Grand Gifts- Usually what people are practicing in Malaysia right now, they will have to get some wedding accessories and gift for example the gift list listed below are the most common items to be given in today's Chinese Wedding customs and rituals.

- double happiness Chinese incense and candles.
- long life noodles.
- candies.
- chinese tea leafs.
- fruits
- 2 bottles of wine.

All of the above items have to be double in quantity for the bride to return half back to them later in the return gifts ceremony.

After all has been settled , both sides will sit down and have a talk on their marriages and confirmed everything what needs to be done. the next step from here, the bride and the groom will have to prepare other wedding preparation before the big wedding day come forwards.
